November is National Homelessness Awareness Month

How much do you know about homelessness? Take our Quiz!

November is National Homelessness Awareness Month and National Homeless Youth Awareness Month. It was first declared by Congress and the Senate in 2007. Since then, November has become a time where people and their families can come together to learn and educate others about homelessness to decrease stigmatization and negative stereotypes.

If you want to see how much you know about homelessness and bring added awareness this November, take our quiz and share it with your friend network.

At Birthday Wishes, we empower and support the social-emotional needs of families experiencing homelessness, by helping build a foundation for healthy self-confidence and self-esteem through birthday celebrations. We encourage and enable caregivers to carry the tradition of hosting a birthday party at their shelter so they can show their child how much they love and value them.

Since our founding in 2022, Birthday Wishes has celebrated over 110,000 birthdays. We work in partnership with a network of 200 shelters across seven states. Our shelters work directly with families, domestic violence survivors, substance abuse recovery, and teen mothers. This year, we hope to increase the number of birthdays we can celebrate by 20% so we can take more shelters off our waitlist.

If you would like to take a proactive role in spreading awareness of our work and the populations we serve, please visit our Bring Awareness Toolkit.

Birthday Wishes relies entirely on donor support to provide birthday celebrations to children experiencing homelessness. Thank you for your support in bringing awareness and believing every child deserves to be celebrated regardless of circumstance.
